We have absolutely no idea what this website is, official or otherwise.

We knew about its existence for a while, and as far as I can tell it's purely player based.

None of us are certain if any CCP is behind this, although the fact it got the news was odd enough.

We're investigating to determine its validity, more will come as I get responses.

Given that it made the news (http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4244&tid=7&aid=105650), as Ghost mentioned, and quickly linked (http://twitter.com/#!/ccp_eveonline/status/8794878272081920) from an official CCP Twitter feed, I see no significant reason at this time to doubt its authenticity.

That said, the domain isn't registered to a CCP entity that I can tell, so there is that.

Nor the Whitewolf subsidiary?

Why the gmail web contact address and claims of unaffiliation with CCP Games if he's responsible for the website?

Or is that simply who owns the servers?
Title: Re: I have returned (dot com) Sansha website thingie
Post by: Casiella on 28 Nov 2010, 12:18
Where do you see claims of unaffiliation? And that's just who registered the domain. He could well have expensed it on a corporate card, for example.

Or you could call him and ask him. God, for his sake, I hope he didn't put his home number and address there.

I will explain why I am so concerned about the legitimacy of this website.

There was a leak of some sort with throw away alt on the IGS detailing Nation incursion plans, even before we knew about them. I and a few others are concerned at this, because there is no precedent for CCP having done so in the past for any of us to call upon. They closely guard that information, presumably to prevent leaks of that sort from creating event campers.

Then this damn website shows up in the news?

It may all be a CCP plothook of some kind doing stuff in a manner that is simply without comparison and I am over reacting. If one of the live event devs went on Eve fiction and said EVERYTHING IS AWRIGHT, ITS ALL UNDER CONTROL, then I'll drop my concerns like a brick.

Until then, I and others will be watching this closely for any signs of wrong doing.

RPing will apply where appropriate, but this is some murky water we're walking through.

The text underneath the barcode reads "Leran IV - 27 - 11 - 112 - 1840 - (something) - Citizen Astur", much like the text on the third image reads "Uedama II - 27 - 11 - 112 - 2000 - Heavenbound".

Hi. We were directed here by a helpful Summit person.  8)

Morwen beat me, hehe. That's how we figured it out. It says Citizen Astur, but it was another Slave. There are other differences, but the information is basically right. My guess is the difference are because this is an unofficial side project of some kind.

Now waiting for a new puzzle so we can do better next time.  :)

I'm not very good at puzzles, but i appreciate the attention to detail from CCP storyline team.

I hope we get some "downtime storyline" to make it interesting  :bear:

The website is in-character as far as such things go. Let's move it to CCP-created content?

The legal speak seems to tell me this is an entirely player fanon website then, without CCP developer involvement. Did I read that right?

I saw it in someone's signature on the Jita forums over at mmorpg.com. I guess the name of the site caught my eyes. Passed it to a friend, and they figured out there was more to it than guides and news. The rest you know already.  :)

The in-game recognition is all that is necessary. There are explicit in-character links between CONCORD and the creation of the site. The removal of CCP's heavy fist of 'legitimacy' is a good one in this case. Much more immersive, has a more authentic feel. Interactive storyline, anyone?

For the record, I'm not Dropbear.

Also for the record, I figured out a pattern.  If I'm right, there's some surprises in store in two days.  Should be a swell party.

How much do you know about the Yan Jung? ;)

...a symbol of immortality, since it is said of the Ouroboros that he slays himself and brings himself to life, fertilizes himself and gives birth to himself. He symbolizes the One, who proceeds from the clash of opposites, and he therefore constitutes the secret of the Prima Materia which unquestionably stems from man's unconcious.

From the fifth puzzle:

"The Operation must not be interrupted by capsuleers again.  Master wishes for us to move plans forward to Thirty (unclear)/Eighteen Hundred.  We must avoid the times they are most active.  Prepare to reinforce the portals with as many squadrons as you deem necessary.  I will be watching.  May you find success in Deltole."

Link to the picture I managed to fit together, though I believe somone in the SYNEpublic channel had a better link: http://eve-files.com/dl/233336 (http://eve-files.com/dl/233336)

If it pans out, see you in Deltole tomorrow.

Dowtime is "supposed" to be ending by 1400.  Though I do admit curiousity as to how they play it out if the downtime extends past 1800.
