When people hear your character speak, who should we be hearing? With what accent? (do we have accents you prefer us to imagine your character voice with?)
Silas essentially is Karina Lombard (the woman on the left in the clip). I love love love the accented english sound, and she is who the character looks are based on as well. It's the more 'Persian' side of the True Amarr we don't see enough of :P (she was much much darker in the old character editor)

A close second is Denise Poirier, who you might remember as the voice actor for Aeon Flux in the 1990s.
http://www.denisepoirier.biz/demos.html listen to the 'animation' demo for Aeon.
But yea 90% Karina all the time.
How about you all? Let me know so my imagination jives with your intentions.
-
I would be fine with him voicing Ghost Hunter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCE7hOgXVEM)
Runner up is the guy who does Raiden's voice work (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meJckIFWFR0)
-
Ricky Fitts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnKhDL8AL6M)
-
Okay, let's try that again:
SHODAN (http://youtu.be/I8wjInQTZKk). She has the same voice and metallic undertone but not the constant 'static' and vocal fluctuations.
-
I have no idea, but it'd be someone with a Persian or Arabic accent. I'm open to suggestions.
-
I've always imagined Saede to have something of like 'scotland in a space western' as her accent. Or "River Tam putting on Badger's Accent" from Firefly.
-
Tilda Swinton to play Katla, Tilda Swinton to voice her.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-OWANK5lrQ
-
The virus from that Will Smith movie where Will Smith isn't black, but a cell.
-
For Ruby I'm tempted to say Teri Hatcher, who voiced the Other Mother in Coraline.
This scene wouldn't be out of place in Tomorrowland Orphanage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=w0C4gjdag8o&NR=1
-
These are all interesting choices.
Makkal's is the most surprising for me but will definitely roll with it.
Istvaan I think you might mean Osmosis Jones? I think it was Chris Rock doing the cell thing though, and the virus voice was Laurence Fishbourne http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/movies/Osmosis-Jones/Thrax/
-
Jason Statham (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD7qdNqozOs) for Seriphyn Inhonores. I figured the Gallente as the "Western" faction will have East End of London in there somewhere. Maybe less gravelly.
-
Clive Owen. More specifically, Clive Owen as 'The Professor' in The Bourne Identity.
-
No clue. Would need a large list of samples to try and find a match.
-
Makkal's is the most surprising for me but will definitely roll with it.
I should probably add that over comms or holos, her voice is normal, just like her holograms shows no artificial parts.
-
I was thinking the self assured yet occasionally vulnerable tone of Kara "Starbuck" Thrace from Battlestar Galactica (RDM). Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron) from Prometheus would more fit her business side though.
Another example as suggested by a friend might be "Black Widow" (Scarlett Johannsen) from Iron Man 2 and The Avengers.
-
Aelisha: Not a clue, but an Indian equivalent Meryl Streep (if we have any Bollywood aficionados willing to help me out with an equivalent) would pretty much fit the bill. 'No one can do what I do, the job would eat them alive' as a quote from The Devil Wears Prada pretty much sums up her mentality at this point.
Solarienne: Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez - Aliens), blended with some of the clannish/order loving aspects of Claudia Black in her early Farscape acting (Aeryn Sun).
-
Like with most things to do with Halete I don't have any real life references to mind.
However, she speaks with a rough, husky Central/Eastern European accent (or roughly the Baltics, think Latvia, Estonia area) and a playful upwards inflection on words for emphasis.
-
Jôji Nakata (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b2-7HwWB4U) is probably spot on for Vince.
-
Vince is deeper voiced than I expected.
-
Vince is deeper voiced than I expected.
Especially when he want to intimidate but he has fairly wide vocal range, much like Jôji Nakata does. His normal speaking voice is a bit more softer than the clip I posted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J4Fu52Pt14 interview clip for comparison.
-
Although I only actually saw the movie after I stopped playing him...
...this is Mortis. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXJx5mORmMI) Possibly slightly deeper voice.
Not sure about my others.
-
"You wanna piece o' me, boy?" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgYBRVL2Ef0)*
* This has never not sounded like "You wanna piece o' meat, boy?" to my ears.
-
If you could imagine rolling the cool, calm collectedness of Laurence Fishbourne's Morpheus from the Matrix, Val Kilmer's ever-present latent sarcasm and mischief as John "Doc" Holliday in Tombstone and the actual voice of that black dude from the Allstate Commercials and the TV series The Unit all into one, then you would hear Enkil Akheteru.
Now blend in the subtle (sometimes not so subtle) chaotic insanity-fueled conviction with which Heath Ledger's Joker spoke in The Dark Knight, which is more a feel than a sound, and you would hear what Enkil Akheteru has become...
Callsign: Havohej
I have yet to hear one single actor who could voice the character I hear when I'm typing for him.
-
The virus from that Will Smith movie where Will Smith isn't black, but a cell.
What was the name of that movie? Been trying to find the title, but IMDB has failed me.
-
Osmosis Joe.
-
Reuben Langdon I guess. Never gave it enough thought to pin it down.
EDIT: Either Reuben or Hazuki from lynch., since I use them as the basis for Anslo's former/maybe current band GACHE.
-
As for who'd voice Andreus? I never really thought of him having any other voice than my own. Actually, a lot of his posts are written such that they match the meter and cadence of my own voice.
But I guess if I had to choose someone else, my top three picks would be Vendetta (http://youtu.be/U_6-x3qbwMo?t=3m31s) from Mass Effect 3 (without any electronic effects), a younger Prefontaine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BAgom3ue1I) from System Shock 2 or Francis Pritchard (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-valadjQgh8) from Deus Ex: Human Revolution. What do you think?
-
I've always imagined Gwen sounding a lot like Cat O'Connor, or more specifically, her portrayal of Kaelyn the Dove in Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, with perhaps a little less confidence in her speech. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4plyqawhmQ) Very quiet, kind, gentle, naive - With sort of the lingering feeling that there's a tiny chance she could snap at any moment and start stabbing everyone in the room.
-
Bear with me here.
Imagine someone from one of the Baltic states, with a very thick accent and lots of consonant stress, especially trilling them "r's", speaking Arabic.
Got it?
Yeah. That's Ava when she speaks Amarish, which is most of the time. When she speaks Sebiestor? Just imagine a woman from the above place, speaking their native language, with lots of emotion and emphasis. Yeah. That's Ava when she speaks Sebbie.
-

So like a female version of Vince? :D
-
This far in and I'm the first person to say she'd like to be voiced by Jennifer Hale? Crying fucking shame. :P
Would also take Gina Gerschon circa Bound.

I was gonna say that :(
-
I have honestly no idea which actress could have a high pitched voice fitting to what I have in mind... Me not good at this -_-
-
Also, now this thread is here, it's only a matter of time before this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0_mt0nE9ZI) happens.
-
DXHR's Francis Pritchard for Andreus Ixiris is fucking perfect.
-
DXHR's Francis Pritchard for Andreus Ixiris is fucking perfect.
Yeah, I thought someone would find that amusing to think about.
-

Yeah, I thought someone would find that amusing to think about.
I did too, but it's not just the voice actor himself, it's the way he portrays the character through the voice.
Reading Andy's posts on the IGS with that voice in mind? It's so perfect it's difficult to stop laughing long enough to start looking for a ventilation shaft to stuff him in. :P
-
Remember that as the game goes on, Pritchard actually warms to Jensen significantly and the snark to genuine concern and trust ratio shoots way down. Andreus is really nice to his friends, but people rarely see that side of him in public because he rarely has cause to address them directly on the IGS.
-
Anyone know of any actors who could do Saede you think?
-
We could consider Isabella (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9zPqHNNi5M) from Dragon Age 2, although despite literally being a pirate she sounds way too proper for Saede, at least according to the description you gave earlier. (Also, the voice acting in Dragon Age 2 is of questionable quality at best.)

Yeah, way too proper sounding.
-
The voice actress herself was rather proper and was a bit uncomfortable with a number of Isabela's lines.
-
Maybe Deborah Kerr for Synthia.
Someone that sounds very proper and polite all the time. lol.
-
Anyone know of any actors who could do Saede you think?
Rose Leslie doing the same accent she does as Ygritte, maybe? (As an aside, she did manage to make that character a whole lot less annoying than she was in the books, which is quite a feat.)
-

If it makes you feel better, Jennifer Hale was my second choice for Galen.
-
Judi Dench (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPrmGtDVXrk) as Safai almost for sure. Except instead of such a charming old British actress, she's ... well ...
Secondary pick is Sara Kestelman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Kestelman), who voiced Kreia in KOTOR2 and also as the orange toga-wearing immortal in Zardoz. ZARDOZ! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbGVIdA3dx0) Classic.
-
Omg Kreia.
Anyone know of any actors who could do Saede you think?
Maybe Camilla Luddington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camilla_Luddington) ? In the last Tomb Raider she sounds completely tomboyish with some thick accent.

I get the feeling that how we picture Halete and Ava sounding are very alike. That's interesting.
-
Ow yes, I think Bjork (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k808kpTNBXA) would do for Lyn.
-
Mmmh..
Corinna Harfouch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXIbhFxDjoU).
-
Damien Caine (http://www.pathofexile.com/audio)
Click on the Marauder Intro's play symbol for sound bite.
Arturo Ramirez generally speaks like a Brutor but has some vocal idiosyncrasies that are more in line with the Nefanter (assuming the two are different).
-
Yay I finally found Kor's voice! :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIVytV5258A (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIVytV5258A)
Even the character's personality is similar to Kor's, being all enigma-ish and whatnot :)
-
maybe Heidi Shannon voicing Jaheira (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpHTG6XlYOA).

Kor is Batman (Kevin Conroy) in my head, but that's close enough.
I have no idea, but it'd be someone with a Persian or Arabic accent. I'm open to suggestions.
Speaking of Batman, I hear Samira as Talia (Marion Cotillard ) (http://youtu.be/qLNjlx0herY?t=1m41s).

That's interesting. I've had her sounding like Fever Ray (Karin Dreijer Andersson) (http://youtu.be/jWFb5z3kUSQ) in my head.
-
Something like this (http://sage-brush.tumblr.com/post/53926866439/reference)
EDIT: linkfixed
-
I'm thinking Katey Sagal for Kokobear.
-
On a personal note, I've always imagined Ava Starfire as having the voice of Valravn's singer. In fact, if ever I imagine Ava singing, I imagine it sounding exactly like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3NZ-fXeNTw).
-
Ava sounds like Maria Arkhipova in my head :3
-
Conjecture about other peoples' character voice acting makes it a lot more interesting, in my opinion.
-
Definitely not canon but Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama.
-
Here's an interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMi0q_LGWU4) with Fever Ray and her brother where they're just talking. I think that puts Makkal's suggestion for Ava in some more perspective. I highly doubt Ava sings every word of conversation. :D
It can be difficult to pin down Nordic or Baltic accents in English because many celebrities of various stripes will speak either British or North Central American English very well. I would say that elongated vowels and rolling R's are common where this is less the case.

Could be good, yeah. I don't really have enough exposure to actresses with that accent to determine if there isn't anything more fitting, though.
-
Guy Pearce;
As heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQpGwnN3dfc
Maybe with some good old Edward James Olmos gravel-y-ness in there.
I played with the idea of a different accent, but the accent of Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland I feel better reflects N'maro's Gallente childhood as well as his own poker facing and making a deliberate image.
-
Ever since Seriphyn pointed out how well it suited him, I've been hearing Pritchard's voice in my head whenever Andreus speaks. It's amazing.
-
These days, Vieve sounds a fair bit like Virginia Madsen as Princess Irulan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz80yT84EcI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz80yT84EcI)).
The average of Celeste's voices (which vary with mood, audience and degree of indifference vs. inebriation) is most likely Christine Baranski (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Baranski).
I have no idea what Maris sounds like.
-
Ava sounds like Maria Arkhipova in my head :3
Oddly, Ava was modeled very, very heavily on her. Must have done it well!
Vince sounds like Tomi Joutsen to me.... huh :D
-
I've always envisioned Tabor has having a Peter Steele voice.
Links for this song don't last long for some reason : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJW4WRvwWKs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJW4WRvwWKs)
-
Vince sounds like Tomi Joutsen to me.... huh :D
I can hear this. Then again it helps that I've been an Amorphis fan for 12 years...
-
In ages gone by, Scagga would sound like The Mouth of Sauron (http://youtu.be/JK8KjVbHO9c)
-
I sound nothing like him but Arnulf should, ideally, sound like Jurgen Prochnow.
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eva_Gabor
Specifically as her voicing the role of Duchess in Aristocats.
Not me choosing but I heartily approve of the choice.
-
I select one of my favorite actors from one of my favorite series, James Ransone, who played Ray Person in Generation Kill.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKZ1DlcmHMI
Sarcastic, at times pointlessly wordy, but verbose and at the end of the day pretty intelligent.
-
I always thought of Kazuma Ry sounding a like Ken Watanabe (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0913822/?ref_=tt_cl_t1)
from The Last Samurai -- http://youtu.be/B9XyCwmh-5Q?t=42s
