Title: using backstage to denigrate players that don't use backstage
Post by: Louella Dougans on 16 Sep 2012, 09:13
This should not be permitted.

I have seen several examples of it.

User of backstage encounters something that they disagree with, they make a post on here, saying player X is doing something wrong. They get their associates that also use backstage to say "yeah, that's right" and so on.

This makes backstage look like a big circlejerk, and excludes people. It looks especially bad if it includes a mod or admin, and the behaviour is not cracked down on.

It makes it look like some players have a free pass to claim their way is "Right", and that others are "Wrong", which goes against forum rules, and when that's not dealt with, it makes it all look biased.

If you see it, report it. It is explicitly spelled out in the rules that it isn't permitted - but again, we don't see everything.

The rules go for comments regarding people who aren't on Backstage just as much as they do for people who are.

That being said, if someone disagrees with a person IG who doesn't use the forum, and that disagreement is the catalyst for a discussion about the topic where there are differing veiwpoints, that isn't against the rules as long as they are posting inside the guidelines.

It's the difference between "Silver is a fucking idiot" and "Silver suggested ignoring Tony G. My own approach is x."
