Exactly. While many Caldari are surrounded with friendly "comrades" they have very few "friends". The militarism has much more to do with duty to your family (the corp and its owners/shareholders). It might as well be a feudal house or clan.

The "public" accolades, such as a promotion or other benign boon will be celebrated by the extended "family" group. New children or a death etc will be blood kin only.
