Title: EVE Source
Post by: mark726 on 27 Apr 2013, 20:05
Just as a heads up for those who didn't watch CCP Presents today at Fanfest, CCP will be releasing a new book, EVE Source, which is supposed to be a comprehensive compilation of EVE lore, including new stuff we haven't seen before.  I wonder where they got THAT idea from :-p

Anyway, it's not available for even pre-order yet, but you can sign up to be notified here (https://store.eve.com/books/eve-source-127).

Oh dear.

This could end terribly or amazingly.

My walls are preparing for the banging.

Eeyore reporting in...

This book was also described as "coffee table" with plenty of "original art", and my recollection (please correct me) was that it was said to be around 180 pages. I, too, was excited when the idea was first mentioned, but that doesn't sound like the book I've been hoping for.

Something like 'The Silmarillion: Eve Edition' might be more exciting?

I'm not looking for The Bible.

I'm looking for something to give to fellow sci-fi lovers to say "Yeah, your favorite little nerd universe is nothing, friendo. Try a hit of this shit."

I'll certainly be interested in finding out what's in it.  :D

And now I cannot get the image of you dosing up some Trekkies or Whovians with some grungy syringes filled with grimdark sleeper-horror out of my head.

EDIT: I should not try communicating with others past about ~1 in the morning.

I'm really looking forward to this. Since they dropped the EVE tabletop RP game, I wasn't expecting to see anything like this anymore, and it can be great. :)

I'm so thrilled that I might edit my FetLife profile when this book lands.

That sounds right from the keynote.  But even if its more coffee table book than source bible, it could still prove incredibly useful.

I shall note my agreement with this post and refrain from further judgement until more info is provided.

Most likely it will be an edited version of EVElopedia.

Without all its pros.

Even if it only has a few bits of original artwork, I will consider it money well spent.

One little book has a long way to go before it beats Shadowrun or Heavy Gear, sorry. :)

But I too look forward to seeing what it ends up being.
