Race: Amarr
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 235 lbs.
Eyes: Emerald
Hair: Light brown (dirty blonde)
Build: Average musculature, toned rather than built
Complexion: Fair
Age: 26
Title: Holder (Liberal), Anti-Slavery, Pro-Empire
Character Journal: Link (http://www.kotmc.com/forum_threads/835671)
Lazarus Decimus Valadeus (Raze) was born the eldest son of an Amarrian Holder. His father was a slave holder but opposed the use of Vitoxin. During his early life, Raze received the education and upbringing of a standard Amarrian Holder, giving him a good understanding of social etiquette, politics and sociology.
As he grew into his teenage years, several things became aware to him (detailed mostly in his journal) such as the use of Vitoxin, the abuse of slaves, treachery from nobility and other darker sides of humanity. He resolved within himself that he would strive to be better than the circumstances surrounding him, immediately emancipating every slave that he inherited from his father upon coming of age and taking an outspoken stance against the practices of several of his fellow Holders.
These actions won him no popularity and he eventually used what remaining wealth he had to enter schooling to become a capsuleer, believing he could do more good in such a position than he could being just a Holder. Shortly after graduating and receiving his license, Raze returned home to try and settle things with his father. While there, he met his soon-to-be-wife Victoria at a formal ball held by one of his father's business associates.
Victoria went through the education to become a capsuleer and the two were married shortly after, returning to space to try and continue to be a positive force for change in a bleak surrounding.

/me applies fluffles to Raze
Definately one of the coolest people in EVE. Great, great character.
-
Positive force for change, eh? Amarr already is the greatest civilization known to man, why is everyone trying to ruin it?
/me pouts.
:D

Raze = Awsomeness

Of late, Raze has taken to holding small devotionals on the Amarr Scriptures where expository instruction on the Scriptures from his liberal understanding takes place. He has been involved in trying to build a bridge of understanding between the Matari and the Amarr in an attempt to foster in possible peaceful resolutions to the ongoing war.
His public debates on policy, theology, ideology and history on the IGS and in the Summit have earned him few friends and many more enemies as he continues to try and defend the Empire while promoting change from within. His military service record reflects these ideals, as he focuses on defending key military complexes and engages hostiles within Amarr space.
His closest friends may have realized his weakening resolve in most recent days. Following his daughter's running away from home and the continuing hostility against him from both the conservatives within the Empire and the enemies of the Empire, Raze has become slightly more insular lately and often seems emotionally fatigued. It would seem to most that he is questioning himself, his path and even his faith more frequently these days.

Eeeeeeeeexcellent.

He should speak with Lyn then

He should speak with Katrina too.

Might I add that I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing if he speaks with Lyn. :p
People generally tend to think the latter for some reason...
-
He should meet the Inquisition.
Ooops, did I type that outloud?
:D
-
He should meet the Inquisition.
Those people sound like fun. I think I'll invite them over for tea.

Just make sure it's not the spanish one, you can never expect them which means you'll probably be out of cake and pastries when they arrive.

So...out of humor, I decided to make Dark Raze portraits today, primarily for the KotMC boards just for kicks...

Even if you have a full beard, an evil twin will still turn it into a goatee.

That's because a goatee is sharp and clean. Evil has to look good being evil or you've lost half the battle.
-
Dark Raze makes Ava wonder what little half Amarr/half Minny kids with loads of piercings would look like.
Just, you know, from curiosity.
-
Don't fall for the temptress, Raze!!

He should meet the Inquisition.
Ooops, did I type that outloud?
:D
He did. Recently. They weren't happy.

So I heard. Anything interesting happen with it?
-
The RP has been enjoyable, if a bit tense.
Otherwise, they've not reached a conclusion yet (that I've been made aware of), so it's still pending. :P

Declared deceased YC 113 8.22
-
Do you have an IC explanation, at least ? T_T
I can't accept that without an IC explanation. xD
-
Declared WHAT?
Looks like I've missed a bit. :/
-
I, too, would like to know WTF is going on :(
-
Holy cow, Raze biomassed?!?!
-
I would also like to know.

IC: Raze and Victoria were killed outside of pod while traveling on a shuttle to an unknown destination.
OOC: I did not anticipate quite the fallout caused by my decision to stop playing Raze and for that I sincerely apologize. Suffice it to say, there's a number of outlying circumstances that made continuing to play Raze more a chore and less of a fun experience. Raze was the first character I ever made in EVE and I made a lot of RP mistakes with him that backed me into something of a corner.
My wife (Victoria) joined Faction Warfare at my behest and found that she was not enjoying herself at all, in fact she spent most of her time avoiding flying because of it. This was an extremely frustrating experience for her and I did not wish to continue to make things frustrating for her by pursuing Faction Warfare further.
As for myself, RPing Raze was an enjoyable experience when I started him. I wanted to make a believably good-hearted man in an otherwise bleak setting and I did a lot of studying of the theology and culture of the Amarr Empire before I began playing him. I was hoping to challenge the conservative "status quo" in a believable and radical way. What ended up happening, however, is that I apparently challenged things too much. I began getting an earful OOC from people who felt I was betraying Prime Fiction. I heard a consistent stream of "Raze should be a heretic," "Raze shouldn't be fighting for the Empire," "Raze's beliefs would put him in disfavor with the Empire," etcetera.
I've been told a number of times "just ignore those people," but the honest truth is that I don't enjoy dealing with it and I shouldn't have to deal with it. This is a game, it's meant to be enjoyed. If I'm feeling like it's a chore to log in each day, something's wrong and I'd frankly lost the will to try and fix it.
I have probably upset a few people with my sudden decision to stop playing my character and if that's the case, I truly am very sorry. I enjoy most of the people I've interacted with on this game and I hope that maybe my transgression for lack of foresight or mishandling my frustration can be forgiven. Thank you to the ones that helped make Raze the awesome character that he was for the time that he was.
I will still be playing EVE and if any of you have an interest in meeting my new character, just let me know. He's hopefully going to be enjoyable to interact with but should allow me to steer clear of the people whose lives I was making miserable with Raze. (Most of you will probably figure it out pretty effortlessly, I'm terrible at hiding things).
Once again, sorry if I have let anyone down or upset you - that wasn't at all my intention.
-
I hope you at least have an interest in continuing to play. Clearly the death of this character has made an impact on fellow players, who definitely will miss your presence.
-
I was suprised to see this happen. Raze and Victoria were awesome Amarrians, a shame to see them go really; but if it no longer remained fun and became a chore, then it's completely understandable.
I wish you the best with the new character and hope that you have much fun with it.
You and VickyVee are "Teh Awesomes".

I will always be amazed at the propensity of EVE RPers to cannibalize members of their own faction for "doing it wrong." People seem to want to claim a monopoly on what it means to be [insert race]. No terrestrial culture is entirely homogeneous, so the idea that spacefaring cultures spread across numerous worlds should be so strikes me as absurd.
I trust the next character will be more fun, and I wish you all the best in EVE.
-
I hope nothing from Crow or me has been interpreted as OOC: "URONG". Naturally Crow IC thinks Raze was a waste of a good Holder for being a liberal.
Feel free to include me in any future hijinks. ;)
-
aw, pooh. I'm really going to miss the Valadei. Glad to hear that you're sticking around, though, I'd probably miss you OOC even more.
-
Don't worry Crow...
The people that took issue with me OOC know who they are. You weren't one of them, nothing but <3 from you man.
-
:(
-
Well, my 2 cents.
This whole thing could have been leveraged into some story goodness.
Hell, I considered saying I had data on who did it, framing some small-time enemy of mine and laughing as they got a bunch of wrath from out of nowhere...but I get the feeling the players behind these chars just want it dropped.
Pity.
-
Bah, I'd only just bumped into you and Vickyval the last couple of weeks and had loved every bit of interaction I got with you both in the Summit.
I'm sorry to hear you had such grief from people dictating, or attempting to dictate your RP and character decisions, and I hope that you avoid such people in future.
Moreso I do hope I bump into whatever characters you both come up with next, there will be a pair of gaping holes in the IGS where Raze's brilliant wit and fantastic arse have left their voids.
-
I personally rather enjoyed Raze and Victoria, but couldn't get close because of obvious differences. I hope to meet you new character and hopefully he's not too Amarrian :D
Good luck in the future, I've always enjoyed our chats in the Summit.

I appreciate all the kind words, really it's encouraging. Thanks!
Graelyn, honestly you can do whatever you want with it. I probably made a rash decision by dropping Raze but it's one I can't take back now, so feel free to take it in whatever angle you want to take it in, I'm not dictating to anybody what they should or should not do in response to it, that's just not the way I am.
Honestly, I'm sorry I tore a hole in things, but I'm hoping I can just move on from here, avoid making the same mistakes and keep hanging out with the people I enjoy RPing and chatting OOC with. (That's you guys, by the way).

I considered having Ryven believe the "inquisitors" were behind it and go on a crazy IC quest to avenge. Then I realized that is really difficult to do when you have a 30 hour a week job and an 18 hour college schedule. I just figured it was about time for Ryven to go on a crazy (Mel Gibson in Braveheart?) style blood hunt.
lol.
-
Not to mention the inquisitors were likely just disposible characters created in order for someone to interact with Raze and co. Though maybe they'd keep them around for you, Ryven. ;)
-
They would have already come after me if I was "Amarrian" enough for them. As it is, being Caldari, I could say just about anything I want, even as a member of the faith, and they'd just shrug it off as my Caldari-ness doin it to me.
-
Sad to see Raze and Victoria gone.
-
Not really being involved in Amarr RP too much I had little to do with Raze, still :(. Seemed like a cool guy.
-
Well, since everybody already knows that Mal is my new character (this is Raze), figure I'll start posting under the name.
I think it's best to just let the death be an honest-to-goodness accident. I didn't actually expect to cause this much of a ruckus and I feel really bad now that I have. I don't want to draw more attention to it because I didn't do this for attention or recognition or some sort of pity party or martyrdom or anything like that.
I was up against a wall that I didn't feel like facing anymore and made a rash, difficult, decision. I ended up affecting a lot more players (characters) than I expected and for that I am sorry to have dropped a drama bomb on you all. I really hope we can just move on and not let this sour people toward me too much. I'm hoping I can make Malcolm a fun character to interact with and RP to an enjoyable level again, knowing which mistakes I should avoid this time around.
Thanks for all of the encouragement, understanding and kindness you guys have shown so far, it means a lot. Here's hoping there's more fun to be had in the future. :)
-
So what's the story behind your new guy?
-
Heh, I'll get it up there eventually. Kind of worn out today...been doing a lot of talking and apologizing today. >.>
-
No worries, just curious. :)
-

That is why I enjoy so much to stir up the hornets nest. It creates diversity, new trends, and eventually makes things move, evolve, at the contrary of being static. It adds depth, as long as it is not absurd.
Apparently, this was not a thing for Raze, though. :/
Well, since everybody already knows that Mal is my new character (this is Raze), figure I'll start posting under the name.
That was too obvious, appearing the same day. Not sure of it though I may have also seen another one nearby... :p
-
Major sadness :(
Raze will be missed, but its good we'll still kind of see ya :)
-
I break from New Eden for a week and someone dieded.
I can't say I'll miss Raze as I really didn't get the chance actually know Raze, and it would have been a clash in any case. But I can say you're one of the more even tempered, polite and upstanding EVE players out there. I'm glad you're sticking around and I'm stoked to see what direction you take Malcolm in.
