The accomplished actor has died of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was 83.
I'd like to point out that despite his most famous parts being on TV, that was hardly all he did. Besides the obvious (Spock), who here remembers him from his other roles - Fringe, Civ IV narrator??

Damn. Seemed like the news earlier this week was more hopeful.
I never watched TOS, but I do remember his voicework on 'In Search Of' when I was a kid, before I saw him as Spock. A singularly recognizable performer and artist, we were fortunate to have his like at all.

Sad news... the sci-fi world will be odd without his arched eyebrows showing up once in a while.
Wonder if Zachary Quinto has realized just how big the shoes he filling just got.

I am not sure who did that, but I am very uncomfortable with the use of that image to remember Leonard Nimoy.

Maybe this one is more appropriate:

Incredibly more appropriate. Thank you.

That 'Nam memorial with Spock is atrociously gauche, I'm with orange. But Internets be what they are.
Z. Quinto won't be filling those shoes, let's just say that :p. Nimoy wasn't a great actor per se, but he was perfectly cast.

Gauche is putting it very very mildly...

Should go hunt down TOS and marathon it, I reckon.
Still, he lived long and prospered, which is more than what one can ask for.
