Title: Gallente Gender bender
Post by: Saxon Hawke on 29 Apr 2010, 14:53
Did anyone else notice that the gender of the Senator named to replace Blaque as head of the senate changed from one article to the next?

In the first article: http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=3817&tid=5 Meis is a woman.

But in the next, http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=3819&tid=5 Meis has become a man.

Those crazy liberal Gallente and their 3-day gender reassignment processes!

Yes, it has been pointed out on the CCP forums, and Ginger was suitably embarrassed. :D

I think it's a bit disappointing. Too much patriarchy in EVE. There needs to be more female leaders.

Several of the pirate factions, too.

Seri, what do you base that on?

I imagine its more on the angle of those who drive the plotline, rather than the actual entirety. That is, the primary leaders of the EVE plotline are 3/1 M/F at the moment, regardless of how many female CEOs actually control NPC corporations.

As far as I know, all 5 of the pirate factions are ultimately led by a male figure as well irregardless of their underlings.

If you discount areas where there's substantial female leadership, then of course you won't find many female leaders. :)

Of course, just a practical speculation. The actual leadership balance is probably fairly even or only slightly tilted, if I don't spend all the time to datamine the genders of all the CEOs. However, as far as my awareness goes those that seem to throw weight around the storyline are dominately male gender.

Edit; Funny enough if Midular hadn't been "dealt away with" as it were, we'd have an equal gender ratio in the 4 Empires among the top leadership. Not quite sure about the Jovians though.

I don't know that the Jovians quite have the same dichotomy that the rest of humanity still does... ;)
