With that, I welcome you all to join us, but if you dislike the policies or the members who are setting this up, dont bother, you wont last there. Probably it wont be the place for you and I dont need to pretend otherwise.
When it was posted on Chatsubo, I read this line as "If you're not friends with me and my fanclub you won't last, so don't bother."  I'll pass.

Likewise... and looking at the content on the front page in terms of photos...

... just lol, at the vast majority of it.

This thread has potential to go pear-shaped fast. Try not to do so, please.

While I admit pears are my favourite fruit (cold, conference pears), I approve of the 'no moderation' idea, albeit with the subjective ban-hammer deterrent at the ready.

I don't think it's fair to blame being a target of repeated hacking attempts on a site's owner.  That said, due to the strong "Real Life" focus of the project (including real names and real photos), and the fact that I have no idea as to what sort of additional web security measures are taken by sites like Facebook (if any - I've heard of peoples' FB accounts being broken into before), it is certainly a valid concern.

Just not one that should be held against Revan herself, per se.

...Explain this to me. Someone with a history of playing it fast and loose with others' personal information puts up a site where she plays it fast and loose with others' personal information, and she shouldn't be blamed for playing it fast and loose with other people's personal information?

I don't think it was implied that it is or ever was the individual's fault that she's a target (in the end, contributing factors must be laid aside because we do not have the capacity to override the willpower of others directly and make them target us, hey?), so much as it's clearly stated that certain things tend to happen around her projects. That said, it is completely the fault of site organizers here that they're making these people far, far more vulnerable to the sort of wankery we see people get up to in this game.

I don't have much respect for people who lack the social grace to simply ignore this rather than making derogatory commentary.  Not impressed.

Also, things like this:
Um.

I would caution anyone joining about information security.

The founder has a...history. Largely consisting of people breaking into her sites and taking what they want. Be careful, people.

Is waht makes threads go pear shaped
