What in blazes happened to the IGS. That whole appearance is not very kind, and the little round portraits, ugh.
-
I don't see a difference, but I guess I'm not used to forums :-P
-
It is challenging but I am old and change averse, perhaps it will grow on me.
-
Discobot happened.
-
I can't stand it.
-
I'm not a fan. I can get over the emojis and random links. Not being able to easily figure out who characters are and what groups they are with is frustrating.

Whole lot of this along with the usual frustrations of noise to signal ratio

Yeah, I think this is a pretty common complaint about them. But, as always, with CCP, it's like :bash:

In regards to noise/signal ratio, I think that's more to do with the new functionality than players. It seems to me that the new setup is made to be used more like a chat channel or slack. Only a few people are having the old style announcements or debates. I'm kind of on an activity downswing and the activity on the new forums isn't helping to draw me back into the game the way it used to. It's kind of nice since I have a massive backlog of steam games to play.

Looks like posting on the IGS is at an all time low.
I'm sure it's something completely unrelated.
-
Even on the former IGS, the noise to signal ratio was out of wack. Switching forums and the incumbent reduction of activity has served to exasperate this situation.
-
IGS in a nutshell:
People tryharding to be funny with one-liners.
People stating the blatantly obvious like it's some kind of esoteric epiphany (Capsuleers kill people holy shit you don't fucking say?!)
People going for the usual low hanging fruit.

Oy, no quip-shaming.

The IGS has always been a cesspool at its worst, but I'll take any over the top threadnaught from 2007 over whatever this has become.
Not to over-reach too much, but I can't help but wonder sometimes that in the days before twitter and reduced attention spans that first or second generation of eve capsuleers and forum writers were a different generation of nerds coming straight from World of Darkness and DnD worldbuilding under a completely different writing framework? This new interface seems tuned in the opposite direction.
-
Discourse and Julianni's effort to make our monthly public releases are the only two things I can really appreciate on the IGS.
I was hoping the return of Jade Constantine would bring some of the old debates back. :(
-
Well, I wasn't making commentary on the quality of what is written there, only the volume. Few seem to be actually using it compared to before. Or was IGS always this sparse?
-
I've adjusted to the new forums fairly easily, but I too miss the debates of old. The type of content being posted hasn't been the kind of thing I have any interest in participating in for a long time, even on the old IGS.
I have the urge to post, but inspiration (or lack of) is currently a barrier.
That said, I have a few things quietly on the go ingame right now, which should provide some interesting material to RP about in the not too distant future.
