So, I've been mulling it over and wondering what people's thoughts are for a second Pahkshi Conference.
Should it be a peace conference with a wider participation pool?
Should it be more specialised, maybe a Conference on the relationship between Capsuleers and CONCORD/The Empires?
Any and all feedback is appreciated at this early stage, including if you think it should not be run.
-
IC peace conferences aren't really my thing. But.
There's a lot of cheap talk going around how EVE is a game for masochists. You might be the real deal. Chapeau.
-
Well someone has to issue some strongly worded non-binding resolutions that resolve nothing at all as belligerents involved casually ignore diplomacy.
-
Well.I think a capsuleer conference could be a fun idea, but not a peace once again. If its done it should be very narrowly focused (Drifters, New Tech, or something else timely to the current lore developments), and perhaps done via forum instead of live action except for some limited pieces.
-
Part of my brief from the PPC last time was to see if CCP were interested in picking the ball up and running with it. CCP let the ball slap them on the side of the head, save for a single reference in a ticker on a movie focused on Omir's arse or something equally more worthy.
That said, I wouldn't want to drop the same sort of investment as last time on Part 2, but I would probably want to be involved to a lesser extent.
-
Aria'd turn up just for the multicultural crowd and the chance to talk about Serious Things. Also to support Utari.
However, maybe you/we should wait a couple years before doing a full-scale summit again?
-
I'd probably get involved if someone actually contacted Morwen about it this time around.
Also fwiw, CCP didn't just do a ticker about it, there was a whole video portion of one of the scope reports that mentioned it and even featured Arkon himself.
With the SOCT now being on the Inner Council it's possible that another of these might actually attract some attention, though, given that Matshi Raish may turn out to be a bit of an advocate for capsuleers.
-
I think my intention is to look at whether there's interest in making these yearly, bite sized conferences on political issues. I'm getting this in now so any infrastructure like forums/timetabling can get sorted if there's interest. I'm not looking to run this till around June, and only if people want it.
Essencially, I'd like to see if people would like a political version of Seycon, since peace is jsut too big an issue to deal with in one hit, but I'm open to feedback.
-
I'll second (third? fourth?) the idea of another event but with a more specific focus.
-
Yeah, I'd definitely be up for a smaller and more focused event, Utari.
-
I was also mildly discouraged by the complete non-response, but nonetheless a potential refocused event does still interest me.
Maybe we should consider trying to reach out and contact NPC actors beforehand and see if we could gain any attention that way?
-
Ok, there seems to be enough here to convince me it might be worth while going ahead.
I'd like to propose the following as the topic of interest:
The Relationship Between Capsuleers and CONCORD.
This to me seems specific enough to limit the discussion from far branching topics, such as Drifters/Empires/War Crimes which resulted in heavy Commission Bloat, while still broad enough to allow multiple topics to be discussed. Further, as/when the Society gets officially recognised in public as a member of the Assembly, this will allow us a lore platform to launch from.
Thoughts? Should the topic be trimmed down even more specifically? Something else you think we should explore?

I don't know, the first iteration crashed and burnt due to people meddling OOC. There's little motivation to be the noman amidst a bunch of yesmen.

My entire RP career has coalesced around being 'that guy' to some extent. If there's a way I can be 'that guy' for this thing, I'll participate - if not, I'll quietly leave it alone, like I do most other big public event things that players organize (I try not to ever just shit something up for the sake of doing so).
-
People shitting things up is a part and parcel of real life. So long as I'm not getting dragged out of bed at 2am to moderate a channel, what happens happens.

It's not about shitting up things or being that guy, it's more of a if you're not buying the party line you get discounted out of hand. That's a general issue with the EVE playerbase though and it's not something that can be fixed in any manner.
-
If your method of playing a no-man is anything like your method of trying to argue a point on these forums then it's no surprise that you find yourself getting discounted "out of hand."
-
I could say the same about other people's method of arguing.
-
I managed to avoid being discounted out-of-hand in either of two ways, every time:
Way 1: I shot at people and/or presented myself for shooting.
Way 2: I wrote good fiction and people were interested enough to engage with it non-violently.
I can't remember ever simply being ignored when I actively sought attention.
-
Yeah, but I operate in an altered state 24/7 so communication with the majority of people tends to be pretty hard. As for fiction, I've tried, but writing huge blocks of text is too tiring and it's not something that I'm good at. Although people have told me they liked it, so don't know.
-
Right, time to get the ball rolling with concrete stuff on this. To begin with, jobs.
I'll be going for chair for this again (so save me god) and I think Aedre might be looking at secretary, but they seem pretty bogged down on work. Any other interested parties in being actively involved in running this contact me, we still need a PR person. Thick hide of Titanium is recommended for the role.
-
Belatedly I found this thread! Cool idea. I liked the first peace conference, just for roleplay's sake. The impact was small but the contributions and results were remarkable, in my opinion. Haria would offer her service as the public communications officer/PR staff.
Putting the focus on capsuleer/CONCORD relationship is a good thing, I think. A relevant and present topic. Thanks for the initiative!

Why recruitment for positions et cetera does not happen IC tends to raise eyebrows with me. Is there too much RP in EVE currently, or are people too short on time to RP it out IC?

I thought it best to be honest in an OOC fashion here that the job needed filling and it needed a thick hide. Aedre's role was initially filled in an IC fashion and he took it up again after an IC meeting.
Bear in mind the last Press Officer burned out of the job and out of the game, Liam and I were privy to a metric ass tonne of petty drama. I think it important to note that point here, but actual interviews have been and always will be done IC.

Caldari Delegate 4 Lyfe
-
I'm not actually sure what role Morwen might be best suited for whether it's one of these organizational things, or a regular delegate spot. Would like to be involved in some manner... I'm just hoping this doesn't end up being during my summer roadtrip. xD
-
It'll mostly be forum based, ideally for me as well should I get elected to CSM, so as long as you can post there you can participate. I'm hoping to keep the in-game stuff down for formalities, press conferences and the like, with the actual work and debate happening out of the game on the forums.

I'd like to involve myself in this, I am fairly good with Public Relations and my bones are fairly sturdy. if anything I'd like to at least listen in on the talks and throw in two cents here and there
-
This still happening? Dunno if I'd participate personally, but it wouldn't hurt to observe.
-
I believe it is not (at least, not at this time).
-
Can confirm I have not got the time, energy, motivation or desire to run it again. Most of it got sucked out managing conclave for provi, getting myself RSI from my job and a host of other things. Sorry guys vOv

No probs homeskizzlez. Hosting events/projects like these can really take a toll on you, I can relate. In the meantime though, looking forward to continuing to develop the Syndicate Stability Initiative II™ when I get back home from my study abroad. :)
-
Nothing wrong with shelving it for a while.
The cluster will continue being a grimdark poopyhead on its own and we'll just have more to discuss when we do get around to it again. ;)
