So, the genre might not fight with speakeasies...

But Master of Puppets is one of the greatest albums of all time.  I've had this shit on repeat in winamp for the last 3 days.  I wish it were 1986 again (even though I was only like 5 then).

Metallica should kick that Rob Trujillo douche, beg Jason to come back and get back to their regularly scheduled musical pwnage.

Misan:
After you mentioned it I had to remedy the lack of a complete Master of Puppets album. Muuch better now.  :)

You know, I'm half deaf IRLs, and it's affected my ability to be interested in metal. And in a lot of other kinds of music that are about having a loud, jarring sound first and clever lyrics second.

It's kind of set me apart from other folks, I guess.

Well, not all metal bands are Manowar, m'kay :D However, if you do ever check out metal you'll find that there are a good deal of bands with quite the clever and meaningful lyrics like Dream Theater, Ayreon, Pain of Salvation, Ihsahn, W.A.S.P. (especially The Crimson Idol album and latter era) and they're not so much about the loud jarring noise as about the melody, music, and lyrical content.

On the OP, yas Master of Puppets rules. A magnificent album in metal history. Very socio-politically critical lyrics which, despite the time frame they were written in by angry young men, still apply today. And is epicly awesome to rock out to.

No energy for anger
The sightlessness of hatred slips away...

Yeah, Dream Theater had two or three albums full of pure awesome (Images and Words, Awake and A Change of Seasons).  GREAT stuff, metal meets progressive rock along the lines of Rush.  Beautiful, melodic, heavy in the right places and airy in others... <3 DT
