I remember this a decade ago. Yeah, it's fake, and some guy registered it to redirect to that website.

I figured as much. There has been a alot of talk about all these hollywood/music celebs all selling their souls to the devil/illuminati.  People are breaking down their shows/music videos and finding all these symbols that they wear or are in the background, hand gestures and other things of the sort that are all common between all of them and the illuminati or the free masons.

Modern conspiracies are a figment of the human imagination, especially with those that tend to disagree with others more than often. It's part confirmation bias and part cognitive dissonance; people who believe conspiracy theories agree with information that supports their unsubstantiated claim, and fear other views that conflict with theirs. They will pretty much look into anything and everything to confirm their beliefs and have satisfaction.

The sheer fact that people believe that a few hundred people control six billion others is ridiculous, but I dare start up this resolved thread.

Yes, the sheep are going to take over the world aided by moles, cows and giant orange camels.
Mark my word, the end of teh l00niverse is nigh. We can only halt it by clapping our hands 37 times, then rotate clockwise 82 times at a speed of 67 RPM whilst flapping your arms and hopping, cawing like a rare lemon-stealing gaffaw bird.
We all need to do that 18 times a day and do it 3 times in a row at the dawning of Chuck Norris' superfluous 29th nipple.

Our governments don't control us? You mean, we're free?

Define "free."

There are certain actions which any society finds objectionable and thus people are not free to simply pursue whatever they wish without facing the consequences.  Being social creatures humans prefer to avoid being entirely cut off from "normal" human interaction, a potential consequence of acting in a way objectionable by their society(/ies).

So, while a few hundred people may not control the lives of individuals directly, it can be argued some may be able to establish/encourage cultural and societal norms in order to control/encourage people to act in a particular way.

The development of societies and cultures is pretty much evolutionary.

Stimulus and reaction to that through previous experience.

Societies and cultures are pure creatures of instinct, the conspiracy aspect of the whole thing comes into play because your average joe does not see all the variables.
