An Ammatar play in the Republic, huh?
Update: New, related article: http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4067&tid=3
Has a bit more info about the play.
And another update: http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4069&tid=4
Now with more death threats!

I thought the "now defunct Parliament" was the most interesting line.
Damn cavemen in space! :O

I'm still thinking about this, not least because I live in a part of the world (Texas) where "plantation" has very strong, emotional connotations related directly to slavery. So I'm trying to evaluate the story from within that context: how would we see an antebellum play about slavery?
And let's not forget the tidbit that tells us that the funding from the play came from the Midular administration. That matters tremendously.
EDIT: it's not that the new Tribal Republic won't have a parliament (in name if not in form), it's that the one formed under Midular was dissolved as happens normally in such a system.

Its like the Tom Sawyer denouncers...but in space.

Think it is interesting that in the latest news piece on this, they mention that it is an 'updated' version of the play. Artistic reinterpretation, or an attempt to make it more 'correct' for the Republic and head off this sort of criticism at the pass? Or...?

I am concerned regarding the wellbeing of Jaken Lagos and an escalation of violence regarding this. As such, i have begun opening communications regarding the situation of the director and will be watchign the situation in Pator more closely.

...you know this is OOC, right? ;)
-
The EVEtrix is real.
-
I laughed pretty hard at the line "the entire cast is Minmatar, so how can it be racist?"
The problem is I can't explain it to anyone who heard me laugh, because they don't play EVE.
-
I have that problem pretty regularly.

Some new developments:
http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4071&tid=4
The play got to the theatres! We get to go watch it. :)
Also interesting:
Wentach Mennar, an ex-member of parliament for the Representative Party, said "It was a good show. An important show. We have been without a parliament for over a year and it is good that someone is asking these questions. People are becoming impatient."
-
Anyone else thinking CCP is doing this so they can have these 'performance-arts' news items acted out with the Incarna engine?
-
It'd be a good demonstration of what their technology can do, I'd think.
-
I guess the EM group field trip to see the play just got cancelled by outside factors. :D

I hope so. But I think it's unlikely.
