Is there a chatbox or the possibility to have one on the website ? Could be cool when you are at work and that kind of stuff :3

lmao

Do want.
-
Joking aside, as an unsubscribed bastard I would like this a lot.
-
Wouldn't IRC be easier? We used to have a channel, and could set one up again.
-
IRC gets blocked by some offices, doesn't it?
-
IRC is little more than prettified telnet, and there are in-browser clients you can use.
if your office blocks IRC you probably shouldn't be using a chatbox on a forum either. :P
-
Argh, more channels /o\
-
Eh it'd be easier to manage though wouldn't? Why separate when you can consolidate into Backstage? Then again I don't know what Backstage's backend code looks like so maybe it's too complicated but...meh.

who gets the fabulous duty of kicking the inevitable mass trolling ?

Disabling guest posting would help resolve this potential issue if we considered abuse of a chatbox system to be on par with breaking any of the other rules on Backstage.
On the other hand, a nice thing about IRC is that if you set a channel to +m you have to explicitly grant individual users the ability to speak, which completely bypasses the issue of "register account, shitpost, lol".

MOD TYRANNY!
GAGGED FOR TELLING THE TRUTH!
RP POLICE!
Having a different policy, for something associated with Backstage, is a bit of a can of worms, no? or indeed, a stick to beat the Backstage staff with.

I don't see why we wouldn't treat the chatbox as just like posting on the forum normally, which was the point.
Only giving people who're registered users of the forum +v in a +m IRC channel (aka, allowing them to speak) is the same thing, in effect, as us not allowing guest posting on Backstage (we don't).

There IS an IRC channel. Its on CCPs IRC server. No one uses it.

Shhh! You're killing the joke!

Not sure if there is a chat box plugin for simple machine, but I have been playing around with building a site using Joomla and there is a plugin that allows chatbox with registered users to the site; you can have one-on-one or even group chats. I haven't had much chance to fully play with it as I'm still trying to get the framework of the site setup in the first place

...from a distance.
Let me moderate it. My HateTank is legend at this point.
-
Nah, let me. Anyone I don't hate gets to speak. Guaranteed satisfaction.
-
It'd be a pretty quiet chatroom. But you don't hate me, riiiiiight?
I never use IRC because of bad port issues here at Uni, but a chatbox here would be rather fun. Not sure how much trouble it would be to put one in, though.

He hates everyone. Even me, and I'm hiding where you'd least expect it ... no, not there! Try looking where I'd least expect it! practically invisible.

Tachyons from an 80km orbit.
Only way to be sure.
