First sorry for any misspellings.
We seeing interesting and very political moves this days. So maybe now is the time to settle in and review what was happened; and more importantly look forward to what will happened.
We see step by step the emancipation of the matari. This emancipation comes thru the newly tribal assembly, which will give the republic, or future tribal republic its shape. Or in other words:
"The Tribal Council is being hailed as the beginning of the rebirth of the Republic's government."*But, what those it mean? It means, that the people of the republic get now their voices heard; thru their tribal representative their voices are now in negotiations inside the Great Caravanserai. Those negotiations can have any outcome, but they will be always the will of the people. Let me make extreme example: If the Tribal Council votes against Maleatu Shakor; it is then the will of the people, and nothing should stand against the will of the people. This emancipation is for the matari a great step forward; but what is with the other states of New Eden? As for the Empire nothing really changes, if the character of the enemy changes. Nevertheless, the Amarr fights a slave uprising, which started 23216 AD and its offspring the Republic. If its now called the Tribal Republic nothing really changes. It will be still a fight against a slave uprising. As for the Kingdom subjects, is also the same old, same old; the same can be said for most other factions in EVE. There is just one Faction, one empire, which could loss thru a emancipation of the Republic. And this player is the Federation. Currently the Federation sees the republic as a client state (It doesnt mean it has to be a client state. It just mean, form the view of a Gallente.... that he/she will most likely see the Republic as a WEAKER ally). Form this point of view is understandable, that the Federation is helping the Republic (as it seen as weak). So, that this alliance gets back-up by help for the republic. Help in from of monetary help, over military advisers, state builders, to actual technology. Of course this help isnt selfless, more a give and take of BOTH SIDES. But back to the topic: Of course this help isnt selfless; it can be counted that this help will be applauded from minmatars inside the Federation, as well as it helps the Shakor-government. So both sides win form this deal. The Federation gets an ally, and the affection of its own minmatar citizens. The Republic gets an ally, and the Shakor regime gets resources to tighten and consolidate its power. The Shakor regime could in the past always adduce/claim, that the YOUNG Republic needs tightening and consolidation its own power, to settle the new state. Therefore was emancipation secondary, as a liberation war was fought. With the current limited war, the empyrean war, can the republic look on itself and say: We need, we want more emancipation.
As for the Federation, this can be dangerous, it could loss its grip an the Republic. Firstly, Shakor attention will be splited now. Before the Tribal Council, he had just to please the Federation; now he has to please the Council, as well as the money giver: The Federation. So in this new role, the weight of the Federation will be less, it is no longer the "only child" in this relation. Imagine a scenario, where the Shalor regime maybe chooses the Council, before the Federation. Or even worse: In a decision were one side losses and the other wins, he could for ones chooses for the Council/the people instead of the Federation. Secondly, why it could be dangerous for the Federation, is the fact that maybe one day the Council put down Shakor and chooses a leader which emancipates the Republic from the Federation.
All this things had brought me back to a picture in my khanid kingdom history holovision/book. It was about the demonstrations on some gallente campuses in the late YC sixties, early YC seventies: Against the interventions of the Federation in foreign countries.
