So much awesome RP potential in this whole niche. There's a great deal of richness in my mind for loyal Minmatar (ie not Ammatar) who worship the Amarrian god.

This is what happens when you abandon democracy! You descend into tribalism!

Of course, Democracy is working out so well for you, right, when your democratic leaders promise whatever they think will get them elected, then do what their original plan was all along.

Anything goes as long as the press don't find out. (Seriphyn's crime wasn't being involved in hanging the traitors, it was in putting in the press! How dare he!)

At least the tribal leaders have the interests of their tribes at heart.

Or do they?

Of course they do, or their aunties would give them a talking to

Was sort of joking, Ulphus :P

The "democracy standard" does not really apply to the EVE universe unlike in RL, but it's sort of funny how this has gone.

Yeah, I guessed.

One of the challenges for me in playing Ulphus is that OOC, I consider Tribalism as I see it in the real world to be a horrible thing. The redefinition of everyone else as the "other" and thus deserving of less consideration.

Yep, egalatarian me. But I try to play Ulf not like that. The Clan is important, of course you give jobs to your kin, you trust strangers from your tribe more than strangers from somewhere else (which, given how many strange Sebiestor have shot at me, isn't much) and (some) crimes committed by your kin are less horrible than crimes committed by other people. Kin killing is worse than killing a stranger etc.

I slip a lot, but I'm still trying.

matari-gallente exodus may be underway, new study says (http://www.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1060&tid=4)

Quote
In a claim echoed by the UoC's study, Odemenko also said that incidents of inter-tribal violence are on the rise. As reported by the Raurvor Feednet in Hulm last week, a Krusual funeral ceremony was interrupted by a militant group of self-proclaimed Brutor traditionalists, who claimed the Krusual's use of a particular traditional Matari symbol was in violation of their own tribal codes. The incident precipitated a melee which claimed the lives of seventeen Matari, all of them under the age of thirty. The incident is not an isolated one: similar episodes have taken place throughout the regions of Metropolis and Heimatar in the past months.

From 2006...it's nothing new it seems!
