Who Voices Your Character? How do they Sound?
« on: 23 Jun 2013, 16:22 »

When people hear your character speak, who should we be hearing? With what accent? (do we have accents you prefer us to imagine your character voice with?)

Silas essentially is Karina Lombard (the woman on the left in the clip).  I love love love the accented english sound, and she is who the character looks are based on as well.  It's the more 'Persian' side of the True Amarr we don't see enough of :P (she was much much darker in the old character editor)

A close second is Denise Poirier, who you might remember as the voice actor for Aeon Flux in the 1990s.

http://www.denisepoirier.biz/demos.html   listen to the 'animation' demo for Aeon.

But yea 90% Karina all the time.

How about you all? Let me know so my imagination jives with your intentions.

Okay, let's try that again:

SHODAN. She has the same voice and metallic undertone but not the constant 'static' and vocal fluctuations.

I have no idea, but it'd be someone with a Persian or Arabic accent. I'm open to suggestions.

I've always imagined Saede to have something of like 'scotland in a space western' as her accent. Or "River Tam putting on Badger's Accent" from Firefly.

Tilda Swinton to play Katla, Tilda Swinton to voice her.

The virus from that Will Smith movie where Will Smith isn't black, but a cell.

For Ruby I'm tempted to say Teri Hatcher, who voiced the Other Mother in Coraline.

This scene wouldn't be out of place in Tomorrowland Orphanage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=w0C4gjdag8o&NR=1

These are all interesting choices.

Makkal's is the most surprising for me but will definitely roll with it.

Istvaan I think you might mean Osmosis Jones? I think it was Chris Rock doing the cell thing though, and the virus voice was Laurence Fishbourne http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/movies/Osmosis-Jones/Thrax/

Jason Statham for Seriphyn Inhonores. I figured the Gallente as the "Western" faction will have East End of London in there somewhere. Maybe less gravelly.

Clive Owen. More specifically, Clive Owen as 'The Professor' in The Bourne Identity.

No clue.  Would need a large list of samples to try and find a match.

I should probably add that over comms or holos, her voice is normal, just like her holograms shows no artificial parts.

I was thinking the self assured yet occasionally vulnerable tone of Kara "Starbuck" Thrace from Battlestar Galactica (RDM). Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron) from Prometheus would more fit her business side though.

Another example as suggested by a friend might be "Black Widow" (Scarlett Johannsen) from Iron Man 2 and The Avengers.
