Hi. Well. 'Have lurked a while, and not followed the board too closely for some time. Yet here i am posting to Backstage. Despite being very fond of RP, I've generally been vaguely cynical of Eve's RP community. So i shy from a good bit of RP community involvement. Lurk. Yes. Socialize actively and publicly? No real, inclination.
So why bother posting here?
CCP effectively barred me from Eve for about a year with changes involving forced camera motion on star gate activation. Last june/july it was fixed / resolved. Since then I've been trying to get reacquainted with Eve. The funny thing has been that it's felt a bit like fighting off torpor.
In the year i spent station spinning in Eve and setting skills, i played an awful lot of WoT, and was something of a theme park tourist. None of them really caught my fancy however. I'd get through at most 1/5 to 1/8 of the level progression, and eventually find a pretty eye-candy location. I'd just idle there soaking up the sound track n' visuals. Leveling and being active didn't really matter (I half suspect this lack of desire for lvling is Eve's fault). Eventually the location and sound track would lose its charm. I'd not log in for a few days. A week later past that point I'd uninstall. A month beyond that, yet another theme park. It became a cycle.
And then CCP fixed the camera mechanics, and i could fly again. Yet there's something about having been away for a year that intangibly impacted a lot of things in Eve. So perhaps it is why I'm posting here.

I RP. Velarra exists. She's only very recently my longest active RP character. The other existed in White-Wolf's Digichat driven, moderated RP site.

More precisely: Exalted, through 2000-2006, coupled by sporadic involvement in WW's New Bremen. Prior & during - various White Wolf HTML based RP sites through the late 90's & early aughts. I admit to being vaguely bitter that MMO's killed the LARP-star.

Welcome! I'm glad the camera stuff works for you now, hope to see you about in game! I think RPers here in EVE have a lot more backgrounds than anywhere else... Everyone's style is quite different than everyone elses' and it takes some of getting used to, I think. And I don't just mean formatting, but even in just defining what RP is. It's just like finding the right corp, it's a matter of rooting about until there's some good philosophical matches. : j
