I object to the notion that criticism of a story must be 'bitterness.'

Also, when she claimed to be ~230 and having died over 470 times, I audibly snerked.

I would be interested in seeing an ingame statistic for how many times a player has been podded. I would not be surprised to learn many older players have a higher statistic of being podded than 470.

As for being 230, ehh. Plausible.

Alternatively, it's set a hundred years in the future from now  :D
Is my guess. But that begs the question of why she's not piloting some sort of tech 80 ship with all the flashy lights and dials that go 'ding' that comes with advanced technology.
Actually, given how old (400) and how clone-y King Khanid II is, Eve may just be a really long-term cloner, who recently got into the Pod, and is really, really reckless.

470 times is still a pretty staggering number, but shit, maybe she tackles a lot of titans, warps into a lot of bubbles, and gets pipebombed a great deal. She is a Wormhole Dweller, after all.

Better stories obviously exist, but "have you written any of them yourself recently, Shiori?" No? Derp.

I have certainly seen far worse fan fiction efforts. This one came over as more than a tad mary sue-ish, but there are worse things.

On a tangent, which other fictional setting do you think would be a good match with EVE? Personally I'd find us getting snarked at by Culture minds to be amusing. Mainly because they'd find the Jove to be hilariously primitive. Also I picture the interaction of Special Circumstances & the cluster's societies, and smile.

And on another tangent, what would be the weirdest crossover with EVE you can think of, and why would it still work/be worth writing?

Eve Online/Jurrasic Park

Eve's gotta have some prehistoric monsters right? Maybe on some worlds the monsters are not so prehistoric :P A zoo worthy of an immortal rich man ;)

EVE/Moby Dick.
The captain peered down the eyeglass into the gloom. There it was! His nemesis! The Moby Dick, its massive hull glittering in the moonlight. " Ahab gripped his 100mm harpoon tightly—CONCORD be damned, he would gank this Obelisk!

My next gankboat will be named "Call Me Ishmael" in honor of this.

EVE / Classic Trek

The horror. The horror.

Also, on the far end of the scale: EVE / Redwall

SuVee discovers yet another resource-rich pre-industrial civilization, this one a little less explicable than most.

If Eve has one lesson in it's narrative, it's that if you find any weird ancient space cybercrap, you should stick that shit straight into your brain ASAP, no questions.

Eve / Groo the Wanderer

Quote
A hero may be great or small,
But Groo is a Neanderthal
His fame has spread from sea to shining sea.

This much is undeniable:
He's totally reliable
If you have need of some catastrophe.

Give him a vase to polish it
In seconds he'll demolish it
And maybe wreck your home before he's through.

Give him the opportunity
To slay your whole community!
There's no one in the world who's quite like Groo.

EVE/Star Wars.

Galactic Empire has their Super Star Destroyers...

...capsuleers love to gank large, expensive shit.

And farming.

And we get to laugh at the horribly archaic laser/blaster tech the SW universe uses. Seriously, I would honestly argue that in, say, the Sith Empire vs Galactic Republic war the first faction to widely utilize Hybrid/Projectile tech would whoop the other in no time flat.

Also because SW is the reason so many ignorant people I've heard is absolutely sure we can't have space-able combat ships in at least 100 years because we don't have proper 'lazor' tech yet. I face-palm every time, but THAT particular topic is for another tread.

Anyhow, I'll be reading this later on, no time now, and I'd love to see a good EVE/SW crossover. Would be hilarious really.
