What is this? A contest? Yes! I have six hundred million ISK to give away to the writers of our little community. 300M to the winner, 200M to the second place runner-up, 100M for the writer in third

Small change you might think. And I agree. So I will not demand much in the way of a word count from you... in fact, you need not exceed 600 words. 600M up for grabs, 600 words to grab it with. Nice symmetry, right?

One caveat - being even one word over this limit will disqualify you when the judging starts.

But that's not all. The title calls this a crossover contest? Well guess what - your fiction has to be CROSSOVER fiction. You're not free to just pick anything you like, though. This contest is going to be even more needlessly convoluted than that!

Remember your birthday. If you cannot, you have bigger concerns than winning an EVE fanfiction contest.

Now. Who is your story about? Well, that's very simple - was the day of your birth an:

odd-numbered day: you are writing about DUST mercs.
even-numbered day: you are writing about Capsuleers.

Next.... who are they up against? Well, for this you will need the last digit of the year of your birth. If your birth year ended with a:

1: EVE vs Nazis
2: EVE vs Wizards
3: EVE vs Dragons
4: EVE vs Vampires
5: EVE vs Jedi
6: EVE vs Werewolves
7: EVE vs Zombies
8: EVE vs Aliens
9: EVE vs Something else of your choice - literally anything. Death Eaters? The Borg? Meerkats? Anything.
0: Pick any two and splice them together! Vampire nazis! Alien wizards! Zombie meerkats! The possibilities are endless.

so, to recap:

  • You are writing a crossover fiction generated by the above method.
  • Your submission must be less than 600 words long, not counting the title. (I will perform the word count using OpenOffice Writer, and will warn you if you've gone past it)
  • The first, second and third placed authors will between them win 600M ISK.

If necessary I will be the lone judge of this contest, but anybody who wishes to volunteer to help me is welcome.

Go forth and make something crazy. Submissions must be in before 00:00 GMT on the 1st of April. The winners will be announced ideally before Fanfest, if possibly. It depends how many entries we get.

capsuleers vs zombies in 600 words. Hrm.

Also, pre-empitvely calling this an april fools joke based on the date for the end of contest.

.. and I guess I'll have to find someone else for you to give the iskies too since i'm not playing anymore, but that'll be pretty easy.

This is indeed my April Fools' project for this year. Previously, we've had the Capsuleer Rear of the Year competition. the last one was sort of fail.

The contest and prizes are very real, however.

Lagging Behind

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

I saw this tonight.

I've already got half my story written.

I read.  I laughed.  I was horrified to realize that I could write IC fiction about capsuleers vs. aliens.

So I did.  Please do not enter this in the contest.  Use it as a cautionary tale about how not to do this. :)

"So, what did Colm say before he put the blaster in his mouth?" Maris Verdure asked, grateful that her ship's cook hadn't insisted on a video feed. Not that she made a habit of objecting to Kyll's video feeds, because they usually involved his showing off what he was making for her next meal.

"Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die..." Kyll replied.

"Wait, I thought he was Minnie..."

"...and then he exploded. Yeah, he was Minnie. Now he's just a big freaking mess all over my mess, and that thing's off loose..."

"Wait. What thing?"

"The thing!"

"Slow down, Kyll ... What. Thing?"

"The thing that came out of him after he exploded!"

"So what you're telling me is that we've got a thing that exploded out of Colm that's now somewhere loose on my ship?"

"Yeah, if it ain't one freaking thing around here, it's another, ain't it? Jaak's trying to track it…"

So, not only did Maris have a deadly thing on board, she had an excuse for her bodyguard to remember he was an Angel, not just a babysitter. And she had half a cargohold full of refugees and the other half full of Quafe... "Kill. Me. Now."

"Uh, Maris?"

"Never mind. Putting in a slight course correction."

"Where we going?"

"Jita. Assuming we don't get smart bombed on the Perimeter gate, I'm going to park on the other side and dump the hard cargo."

"You think that'll get rid of the problem?"

"No, but it might make it a problem for some asshole to have to figure out."

"I'm so proud of you," Jaak said. Maris didn't even bother wondering if he'd been listening in this entire time, mostly because he was already chuckling. "My little bioterrorist…"

"Shut up, Jaak..."

"So, I wonder which you'll get busted for?  Dumping the dangerous life form, or dumping the Quafe?"

"It's for a good cause!" she growled.
