diagnosis ?
Suspect faulty video card. Unable to test, as no compatible video cards available.

Looks like vid card to me, had something similar happen once.

daughter was playing videogames yesterday, all of a sudden, it failed to run a game that had been running fine earlier. (KOTOR II)
Was still running windows though, checked drivers and such, then, it failed and did not restart.
needed a quick response, to decide whether to try a local computer repair place, or order a newer video card online, next-day delivery should be an option from the supplier we've used before.
And talking of replacements
Existing card was a Nvidia Geforce gtx 460.
suitable replacement product is a Nvidia GT 610 ? that seems to be the only ones available that would fit this machine. PCIe 2.0

You can try another monitor or monitor cable, but I agree. It's most likely the video card itself.
