Hey folks!
I've been playing Eve for just a handful of months, now, and I've gotten to enjoy the "playground" approach, as CCP describes it. I'm also happy to find that there's quite the RP community!
My character, Xav, is still being developed. I picture him as the sort who both excelled in his classes with the Center for Advanced Studies and also earned a reputation for good-natured mayhem. After graduation, he took his uncanny knack for astrometrics and landed a job freelance scouting obscure sites for a production corp. Being my first foray into Eve RP, I'm taking my time and sponging up as much content and source material as I can before really diving in. I'll be popping around the various RP channels in-game. Hope to see you around!

Hiya!
-
I also can't wait to cobble together a fun avatar ;)
-
Hi, and welcome here! Couple of quick friendly pointers: EON (http://www.eveonline.com/eon/) is a magazine, not the game. :) And we have a lot of folks here who'd be happy to point you in useful directions, if you'll give us some ideas of what you'd like RP-wise in addition to exploration. :)
-
Ah-hah; and here I thought it was some three-letter pseudo-acronym... For a three-letter game. Ahem. /facepalm
As for what I'm looking for? Well, in-game I've hyper-specialized towards probe scanning. I did that scouting/exploration tutorial and never looked back. Now I'm 120 days away from getting the level-5 skills for my Elite Cartographer certification.
I'ma tape that sucker to the fridge.
My corp is quite happy with the phatty grav sites I find, and I enjoy plundering Angel data centers for their unguarded betamax tapes.
In terms of RP, I'm generally looking for fun diversions and character development while some of the slower portions of the gameplay experience pan out. I like the RP channels, and I may eventually find the time to do some fiction-writing/journaling. With Eve's new fancy character creator, I couldn't finish creating my portrait without a profound sense of personality and character.

Look at that face. Never has there been someone so sincerely disinterested. ;)

A Gallente... who probes things... I hope you'll forgive me for being the messenger here, but you are going to face a ceaseless barrage of obvious innuendo with this 'toon. :P
-
Hello.
Here, please enjoy some of this coffee I made for you: :cup:
-
Innuendos, and now I'm being invited up for coffee. Well, I can't say I was blind to these possibilities when making the character ;)
-
Welcome. I see you've already gotten offered coffee and innuendos. I'm certain someone will be around to tempt you with less benign enticements shortly ... cookie?
-
That one's not very benign. Trust me on this.

Had to be done given the thread title.
On a less serious note Simca just fell in love. Well maybe not, but nice character pic either way.
On a even less serious note Welcome to Backstage. \o/ Enjoy the tea and innuendo someone will be along with drugs shortly.
-
Hmm... no drugs, but I brought beer and cookies!
Oh, and welcome to backstage.
-
Hee hee. You are my people :D

...someone will be along with drugs shortly.
I'll just leave this here...

You put that stuff in coffee? that's hardcore...
Welcome aboard and welcome to EVE. I hope you don't have any serious plans for the next few years...

Gallente and minmatar toons keep being spawned, what are these new players thinking, terrible factions, only good for target practice and slavery. *Inside voice Invel, inside voice*
*cough* Welcome, and.....
Did you know?:
The founder of Zainou Biotech, Todo Kirkinen, was the first person to have his mind transfered into a machine? Ishukone owns a majority stake of Zainou

Did you know: Federation society is close to Utopia? (Page 174, of The Empyrean Age.) :P

Is that the same near Utopia that has a public execution based on how loud the crowd yells or cheers?......savages, dogs all foaming at the mouth.

Yeah yeah, we know you love it. Why don't you just move here, you know? We could string up a Sani heretic every day and pump him full of the fun-stuff, then when you wisper 'die' his toes catch fire. It's all fun from there...

Hi. Hope you find stuff you enjoy in Eve.
One of the things that I feel is very nice about Eve as a game is that things to do are mostly structured "wide and shallow" instead of "narrow and deep". There are a plenty of different activities to try, and most do not require doing a ton of other stuff first - a limited time and skill investment usually alows you to dip a toe in the water and try things out. :)
