Evac Point
« on: 21 Jun 2011, 20:06 »

So, I thought it might be a good idea to establish an evac point, for when eve crashes and burns, I rather enjoy this community and would like to not lose track of everyone.

What MMO could we all meet up in? I'm rather liking the sound of Defiance, its supposedly going to be tied to a TV show on Sci-Fi, so character actions will have consequences in the world and such, I'm yet to hear anything about gameplay yet, but...

Then then there's the new Star Wars game, which, to be honest, looks remarkably like WoW with voiceovers.

There's perpetuum, which is like eve with mechas, that might have potential.

I dunno, thoughts? strategies?

I'd be willing to host a Minecraft server.

Eve's not going to 'crash and burn' any time soon.

Seconded.

But dear god how that demo video makes me wish Infinity was like to become something within the next ten years.

I've heard good things about the re-released All Points Bulletin.

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

APB Reloaded is good aside from the lag and needlessly high system requirements.

I checked out Black Prophecy. Not sure if I still remember the user/pass combination, though.

I'm rather fond of just staying in touch through FB. If I'd go where friends went I'd still be playing WoW. I'm also pretty skeptical about this, too often seen communities just splinter, cause that's how it will always be, unless you can unite everyone under one banner.

Personally, the KotoR MMO is next on my list of things to try. If EVE got pop in that time, may or may not be a next home. I'm not sure how good it will turn out. Maybe go amuse myself with Rift again, or go back to WoW for the RL friends who play it. Who knows.

I've heard good things about the re-released All Points Bulletin.

It's reasonably good. I've been playing it off and on since the re-release of closed beta. If nothing else the new devs are rather good at keeping people updated on the plans for the game. Some areas have been improved nicely, while others got changed but honestly need some fine tuning to be worthwhile (witnessing). I like it, but I like shooters in general and APB has this 'personal' feeling to combat (due to group sizes) that makes it both fun and frustrating at the same time.

I looked at Black Prophecy but for whatever reason it didn't really draw me in.

Really if EVE either died or CCP did something I wouldn't tolerate I'd probably just stop playing MMOs entirely. Maybe put the time into playing FPS games like Brink or sucking less at SC2...or doing more blogging/writing.

I really like the community here to. Thankfully, I don't see EVE perma-dying any time soon.

However, I will likely give KOTOR a shot, if I stick with MMOs. To be honest, EVE is the only MMO I've ever played and I'm not likely to try any others unless I have a good group of friends going into it with me.

I plan to play SWTOR, but as a game, not a lifestyle. Much more like a coop KOTOR or even WoW than the rabid immersion that has characterized my involvement in EVE (and, previously, SWG).

If/when I leave EVE for good, that will probably mark the end of MMORPGs as a significant hobby for me.
