Heh, yeah, I remember this change a while back, though didn't bring it up. Always thought it was a bit funny, the Caldari logo...

I think the case can be dropped in exchange for Jon Stewart appearing in EVE promotional materials, yes?

This would actually be a 'trademark' case, not a copyright case.  :D

Is the caldari state logo trademarked though, or just the Eve/Dust/WOD/CCP logos?

I think the point is that it would be possibly covered by trademark law rather than copyright.

While I shun and deride you for not watching TV, I applaud your suggestion and hope for its realization.
