Some insights into Otro's altruistic nature.

Quote
There was another reason for her decision, the family name Cumin might ring some unwanted bells with Gariushi. She didn't know all the gritty details, but she knew that when she was a girl, her father, an important negotiator for Wiyrkomi at the time, had been sent
to the headquarters of Ishukone to barter a deal.

Gariushi had entangled her father in a conspiracy ploy and then threatened to reveal it to Wiyrkomi unless a very favorable deal would be settled on. Her father had no alternative but to accept, being branded an idiot was far better than that of a traitor.

After his return her father's career slowly faded into obscurity and instead he pinned the hope of his family on Ariko's slender shoulders. Ariko was pretty sure that Gariushi had long since forgotten the name of Cumin, but she didn't want to take any chances on the matter. She would stay in the shadows for the time being.

The problem of an inadequate workforce remained. Much of the budget allocated to build the station had been spent, yet it was only half built.

A week after his arrival, Gariushi ordered the construction zone to be sealed off, as well as the docking bay serving the zone. He justified this by stating that the workforce needed to shield itself from outside interruptions and attractions, so they could concentrate fully upon the task at hand.

Ariko couldn't quite understand this need for seclusion, but dismissed the conspiracy theories about slaves being used to bolster the workforce as fabricated rumors spread by former cronies of Medila. The sudden appearance of burly Amarrians walking the station's halls was merely a coincidence, Ariko reasoned.

I find it amusing how easilty the Fedeation Sentate turned a blind I to those burly Amarrians too.

Here are links to the two archived news articles discussing the Repolla "intervention" with Hyasyoda and Zainou.

So looks like we finally discovered what this was all about. I suppose the entire Minmatar block was involved? Curious.

With the escort itself... no. Electus Matari was approached, through me (after a failure to find senior EM personnel in our public channel, low activity time of day), to escort the Freighter. Luckily, even during our least active time, Altaen was setting up a fleet for lowsec roaming containing some Anti-Piracy corps as well so we had a decent turnout in general. Fleet was quickly repurposed for the escort, and it was done with a minimum of hassle and trouble.

I don't know if there were related events to this, though.

I don't know if there were related events to this, though.

At a basic glance, I expect that this particular event/arc is one or both of the following:
- A metaphorical kick in the pants for the community to push the w-space storyline(s) along a bit and reveal some new information, because it more or less became completely stagnated with the lack of new information from CCP.
- Tied in with the Incursion storyline and its associated live events.

... and would therefore expect that they are coming and will be revealed Soon™.

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

They probably wanted to be included in the effort to destroy the freighter before it could make the jump.

It's possible they discovered that the Ishukone didn't have any intention to stop the freighter from escaping.

I'm told the EM fleet nearly said "no" too, but then someone pointed out that a Freighter in lowsec would make great pirate bait... (unfortunately, the pirates didn't show)

I sometimes wonder what CCP would have done if we'd said "thanks but no thanks"

Edit: Weren't the Krusual the ones involved with developing jumpdrive (i.e artifical wormholes) for capital ships and black ops?  Could have been the Thukkers though, my minmatar lore is weak.  Either way I recall finding that a minmatar tribe seems to have scavanged jump drive/worm hole generator tech from the joves and then sold it to the empires.     I was looking up the lore behind the Widow when I found that, if anyone else can be assed to look into it further.  Just search through the news articles from that time frame.

It appears that the Thukkers were the ones who indeed developed jumpdrive technology for the Minmatar (Nomad, etal).  The Krusual may have had a hand in it though, we probably will never know; one thing they did have a hand in was the work on the Loki Covert Reconfiguration.
