Title: Responding to a post you report.
Post by: Silver Night on 30 Jan 2011, 17:14
I want to make it clear that if you report a post as being in breach of Backstage rules or guidelines, you should not be replying to that post. If it's against the rules, it will be moderated. If you feel it's against the rules, then you shouldn't by responding to something that you see as breaching the guidelines.

If the moderators decline to take action, you can certainly reply then. If you want to check whether we are still discussing it, or whether we have decided not to take action, a PM to a mod to find out would be the appropriate way to discover that information.

From now on if a member reports a post, and then responds to it, a warning may be issued. Responding to posts you have reported suggests that either:

A) You feel it's potentially a violation, but don't care that you are continuing to propagate the problem.

or

B) You don't actually believe the post is in breach, in which case you are attempting to use the 'report' button as a weapon.

To make sure, we can respond to other posts in a thread containing a post which we have reported, yes?

How about if their lineage can be traced back to such a post?

Yeah, it's fine to post in the same thread replying to other posts. Generally you're going to be fine as long as you aren't replying directly to a post you reported.
